I JUST CAME TO SAY HELLO

HEY you guys!  I just wanted to let you know that I'm still here...no te preocupes.

I've been super ridiculously busy...recently moved into a new apartment, working many many hours at my new job, about to have two internships, a big trip to Mexico coming up, meeting new friends and nights sitting around talking about movies and comics and music and relationships and life.

SUMMER!

I'm also working on some cool new art and fashion projects that I'm pretty excited about. I'll hit you guys up with a peek soon enough.

I ALSO wanted to take this time to mention that I finally have my new Etsy shop up!

It is called "palloncino" which means "balloon" in Italian.

Personally, I am mentally preparing myself for the midnight premiere of HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART TWO on Thursday night. It brings a lot of questions: is this really the end? what will i wear? WILL I EVER STOP OPENLY WEEPING ABOUT THIS?!?!?!?!?

Website Sneak Peek! Fashion! Yay!

Hey guys!

I have some really exciting news, and all of you wonderful people who read my blog are going to be the first ones to find out!

Sometime very soon, I will officially be launching a new fashion line, called Aviva by Nikki Dee!  

Aviva is a Spanish word that basically means "to ignite".  This line is inspired summer music festivals, and by all of my super-talented friends who are in the performing arts.  The clothing will be sold online very soon.

Clearly I am super super duper excited about it, and I hope you get excited about it too!

On top of that, I am completely revamping my website (www.nikkidee.com).  Here is a sneak peek of what it is going to look like:

Modcloth Contest for Kaboodle Styleboard

The past few days, I have been making sets using Kaboodle Styleboard. Okay, yes, I realize that I am cheating on Polyvore by using Kaboodle Styleboard. However, I have have been using it- you can connect with Facebook!- to make sets for the Modcloth "A+ Look for Fall" Contest. Winners receive gift cards! If that is not enough incentive, Kaboodle Styleboard is really easy to use. It has some cute styleboard backgrounds. There is also a "hide background" button to makes the background of an item transparent instead of solid white for layering, which isn't always available on Polyvore.  So if you want to win some cute new clothes for school, enter the contest- and post your entries in the comments!  You can submit up to ten collages.

Operation Stay Fit For Summer!

During the school year I take dance classes all week and I love everything about it. I usually take summer classes as well, but... Last summer I switched studios. So I didn't take dance classes in the summer, and I didn't have any kind of set exercise routine. When I went back to dance in September, I felt so out of shape!

So this summer, I've started what I'm calling

"Operation Stay Fit For Summer" !

The plan is to do some form of exercise every day, preferably outside, and to make it fun. I've started running in the morning, with a friend or by myself.

It's a great way to start the day, being outside and thinking while waking up your body. It

also gives you a feeling that you've accomplished something that day. Also, typical forms of exercise like sit-ups are more enjoyable when you're with a friend in the sun!

Playing music also helps, especially if it's the kind of music that makes you want to dance!

It's Finally Summer!

June 12th was my last day of high school ever, which means that it's officially SUMMER!

I love summer, and nothing makes me happier than spending a

 sunny day with my friends :]

It has been super rainy, gray, and dull here a lot this month...and today we finally had some nice,  sunny weather!

Favorite things about summer:

♥ wearing shorts and cute sundresses!

♥ swimming!

♥ going to the beach!

♥ driving around aimlessly with a friend...or going on a road trip adventure! :]

♥ no school  -duh!

♥ popsicles!

♥ laziness! 

you can sleep late if you want, and have more freedom to do whatever you want :]

♥ summer exercise! waking up early and movin' around outside, even if it's just you and the sunrise, having a dance party :]

New Jersey Beach Trip!

It's been sooo dull and rainy around here lately but yesterday I went to the beach with a bunch of my friends! It was a long drive but it turned out to be a lot of fun. :]

Apparently the beach didn't like having its picture taken, because right after I took this one I fell into a sand pit!

"Bam! Snacks on Snacks!"

There were so many of us that we took four different cars full of people, and each car gave itself a team name. We had a sort of scavenger hunt on the way there with objectives such as Funniest Picture and which team could get there the quickest. Our team was Team THF [The Honorary Fucks]. Long story, but it was an inside joke from our drive to Bamboozle May. I think we definitely won!

Polyvore Part One

In a smallish town like the one I live in, it's kind of hard sometimes to find people who don't just follow trends with what they wear. I kind of can't wait for school to start, if only because it's a venue to be stylish every day and see what other people are wearing.

Polyvore is one of my favorite things on the interbot because it enables you to try new things- and things you may not be able to afford- from your computer. I could spent hours on it, which is why I now limit my time on it, ha ha.

This would be perfect for shopping at a street market.

I love the brown jacket and it goes unexpectedly well with a flowery skirt. Pairing things that usually wouldn't seem to go together is so much fun because a lot of the time they actually look great.

Polyvore is also great for finding new clothing pieces easily. It's where I discovered my new must-want item for when it gets a little colder:

I love it. But I'm getting way ahead of myself here. I should be writing about the beach, since that's where I am! I'll check back in with that later.
