Remember how I was slaving over Final Cut to make LIKE TOTALLY THE BEST SELF-PORTRAIT VIDEO EVER!? HAHA well, this is the result. I started out with a very different plan, but I am actually a fan of this one.
This is my first time using TOTES AWESOME PRO VIDEO CAMERAZ and Final Cut, ever.
Hey everyone, I have a bunch of posts that are lined up and almost ready to go, so check back soon. For now, though, I am on a total Christina Aguilera Kick. I have her new CD, Bionic.
Something I like about Christina is that each of her albums has a different sound, but they are all undeniably Christina. This album has a really different sound from Back to Basics or Stripped (my favorite Christina Aguilera album). I saw an interview with Christina on FUSE where she explains that if Back to Basics was a look back in music, to jazz and the like; Bionic is a look into the future. She also says, in an interview with Ryan Seacrest, “It’s really a fun, fun record. Really futuristic. I was inspired by a lot of electronic music, electronic artists, and so you’ll hear all those elements.” Most of the album is electro- dance type music, but my favorite song is "You Lost Me". It is incredibly beautiful and really showcases the different things that Christina can do with her voice. I reccommend listening to live versions as well-amazing!
I have heard many people argue that she is trying to copy Lady Gaga in her new video for "Not Myself Tonight". However, I disagree. I think that if you go back and watch old Christina videos, she has always been both sexual and artistic, always trying new and different things in her videos. I suggest watching the videos for "Dirrty" and "Fighter". She explained in an interview on People.com "I feel sexuality to be very empowering. I think men love to believe that they own our sexuality, so if a woman represents herself in a sexual way, people think, 'Oh it must be for a man.' But men don't have the right to own our sexuality. If I want to be sexual, it's for my own appreciation and enjoyment! That's why I like to talk about the fact that sometimes I am attracted to women. I appreciate their femininity and beauty."
Anyway, I really wanted to post this video: the song that became the anthem for freaks, for young girls, for the gay community, and for people around the world... everyone needs a reminder that we are all FREE from the judgment of others. My beautiful readers, remember:
I have been putting together a giant summer playlist, which I am totally addicted to. It is a mix of last year's summer playlist, and a whole bunch of new songs that I can't stop listening to at the moment. The only thing that all of the tracks have in common is that they put me in the summer mindset in some way. The thing is, I'm going a little bit mash-up crazy.
I have a challenge for you guys: provide the soundtrack to my insanity by way of: Mash-Ups."a song or composition created by blending two or more songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the music track of another." (thanks wikipedia.)
Give me your tired, your poor, your mash-ups! What is your favorite?
Here's what I am listening to at the moment: 10 rad mashups
The best mash-ups I've heard have either Biggie or Daft Punk in them. My favorite mash-up DJs are: Girl Talk (dancing in the Girl Talk crowd at Bamboozle was the highlight of the entire festival), Super Mash Bros., party Ben, and the awesome DJ Earworm.
Also:
Should I give the person who submits my favorite mash-up a prize? Should I have regular music challenges with prizes? Do you want more contests? Should I just shut up? (I'm not going to.)
Take today to chill out a bit. Watch these videos about peace and love! Think about what you stand for and what you believe in; and have a great day, birdies!
The first weekend in January this year, I was lucky enough to attend the PULSE Tour in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
I got to take classes with my three favorite choreographers ever - Sonya Tayeh (I've written about her before!) , Mia Michaels, and Wade Robson - among others.
Here are some pictures from Sonya Tayeh's class. I'm the one with the pink shirt and long brown hair.
The above picture is Laurieann Gibson teaching a workshop. We learned part of a dance for Monster by Lady Gaga. Laurieann is crazy! And awesome! I follow her on Twitter, @BoomKack, and she always has something encouraging to say (see here!). At one point during the class, she swaggered up to one of the male dancers, laughing, and said, "Let me touch you, so you turn to gold."
Definitely one of the best things I've ever heard!
Me with my friends Lilly, Allie, and Emily, and CRIS JUDD!
We learned some really cool dances. A lot of the choreographers have choreographed for the show So You Think You Can Dance, which I am obsessed with! So when I found out we were learning a few dances from the show, I was super excited!
For example, we learned this dance, choregraphed by the legendary Mia Michaels. She is so inspirational. During the class she gave a little speech about the importance of growing and pushing yourself, and I will never forget it.
Then there was Wade Robson. When he came on stage I believe I was crying, I'm not going to lie. He is amazing, and has accomplished so much for someone so young. He co-directed Britney Spears' 1999 tour at age nineteen!
We learned this dance, choreographed by the amazing Dave Scott. There is a really cool video on youtube of Dave and Wade doing the dance!
I had the weekend of a lifetime! I grew so much as a dancer and a person in such a short amount of time; I can't wait for next year!
Sonya is an American dancer and choreographer who was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Detroit, Michigan.
She is a choreographer and guest judge on the TV show So You Think You Can Dance?
I am a huge fan of Sonya's choreography, and SYTYCD is one of my favorite shows!
Besides being a super-amazing choreographer, Sonya is someone with admirable personal style. From her hairstyles to her tattoos and everything she wears, Sonya is someone who knows who she is and isn't afraid to show it!
♥ Sonya choreographs "combat jazz", hip hop, and contemporary dance.
I love this interview with her. She is intense, adorable and awesome!
This video is a contemporary dance on So You Think You Can Dance that was choreographed by Sonya.
Seriously, look Sonya Tayeh up on YouTube, because if I had the space I would probably post all of her videos here!
Hello lovelies! I hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far! Right now I'm totally procrastinating taking a break and thinking about all the things I love this week! Would you like to join me?
Here are some links and videos to get us started:

♥ And speaking of glamour,Glamour Kills Clothingjust came out with their new winter line!
♥ Remember this? Rihanna's performance of "Disturbia" at the 2008 VMA's. It was awesome!
♥ Possibly the most ridiculousBEST song ever. There is a combination Taco Bell and Pizza Hut about a block away from my building, and I smile every time I pass it. I always think of this song!
♥ This blog is like the virtual equivalent of a gossip packed sleepover in a coffee shop with your best friends. It is written by the hilarious and lovely Aquarius Alexi Celine Wasser from Los Angeles, California. Go read it nownownow!
Other, non-internet-y things that I'm loving this week:
♥ How I Met Your Mother. Definitely one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. I recently got really into it, watched nearly every existing episode online and I am now HOOKED. Neil Patrick Harris = THE MAN. [But we all knew that.]
♥ Anticipation! I'm going to see one of my favorite bands tomorrow: Hit the Lights !
♥ To Write Love On Her Arms If you don't know what this is, just go the the website and read it. They have done some awesome stuff and events on facebook like "Write LOVE On Your Arms Day" have really made it popular and helped to spread the word.
Love Eachother, Love Yourself!
♥ Also, school, fun assignments, graphic design, typography, my friends, long conversations through facebook comments on a picture, Lady Gaga, looking forward to Thanksgiving break and seeing friends, Japanese grocery stores, animal ear headbands, bubble guns, talking to cute boys, talking about traveling, making silly videos, being really corny, and all of you!
Okay, it's your turn. Don't hold back, now. Grab a friend or three, play your favorite song, and shout it to the sky! What are you loving this week?!
As you probably know, I love all things Lady Gaga. I think she is a true artist. Her performance is fabulously over-the-top but she still gives off a down-to-earth vibe of acceptance.
Her new video, Bad Romance, is great in so many ways that I'm not even going to write about it....just watch it. [And check out the McQueen!]
