I helped my roommate with a dance video, and then went to Chinatown. I got two uses out of the same outfit! :]

Do you have a favorite item of multipurpose clothing?

Things I Love This Week

What a crazy week! At least it is almost the weekend.
Here's some things I love this week:

♥ BAN COMIC SANS is so funny. Type nerd lovin' !

♥ There are so many reasons that I love Karl Lagerfeld, and this is only one.
Personality begins where comparison ends.” -Karl Lagerfeld
♥  The word "Vestiphobia".  It means "fear of clothes" !

♥  I saw a creeepy commercial on TV and had to look it up on the only source of truth, Google. Here's what I found: the original commercial, for a new Verizon phone called Droid, and a spoof video created by an iPhone user.

Lady Gaga back in the day
I think she's going to be one of the most popular people to be for Halloween this year.

♥  This video from the World Series!
[I'm a Mets fan, but currently rooting for the Yankees. Go New York!]

What are you loving this week?

350 Day is coming up!

Oh my goodness, being a Parsons freshman is hard work. I have had a crazy week!
However, that hasn't stopped me from being excited about

On Saturday, October 24th
there will be events occurring all over the world to bring attention to the issue of global warming. The point is to make world leaders realize that it is a big issue that people are passionate and opinionated about, and they all need to take action at the Copenhagen Climate talks in December.
Check out www.350.org to find an event in a city near you. On October 24th, you can find me walking across the Brooklyn Bridge with other Greenpeace volunteers!

So get out there and make your voice heard!

Halloween 2009!

I LOVE Halloween! Free candy, amazing costumes, galavanting with no sleep, and en epic night that feels festive, spiritual, and creepy all at the same time. It's one of my favorite days of the year, and it is approaching quickly!

"…Beware the autumn people...for these beings, fall is the only normal season, the only weather, there be no choice beyond.
Where do they come from? The dust. Where do they go? The grave. Does blood stir their veins? No, the night wind....
They sift the human storm for souls, eat flesh of reason, fill tombs with sinners. They frenzy forth. In gusts they beetle-scurry, creep, thread, filter, motion, make all moons sullen, and surely cloud al clear-run waters. The spider-web hears them, trembles—breaks.
Such are the autumn people. Beware of them."
Something Wicked This Way Comes, by Ray Bradbury. Chapter 38.

Here is some inspiration:

To further get in the Halloween mood, my favorite book to read is Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. It is dark, twisted, amazing, and had me one hundred percent on the edge of my seat, holding my breath the entire way through.
There's also a movie that has some really creepy, beautiful carnival imagery.

My favorite Halloween movie, however, is Hocus Pocus!
Hello, young Sarah Jessica Parker!

And of course, the faabulous Bette Midler. I love this scene! :

What are your plans for Halloween? And what will you wear?

Nikkidee! :]

I'm on lookbook! Lookbook is kind of a social networking site where people can post and view street style.

It's so inspiring to see what people are wearing every day, all over the world!

Chelsea Art Galleries: Part Two- Graffiti!

When I visited the art galleries in Chelsea, I spent nearly as much time staring at the walls outside as I did inside the galleries!

This is mostly thanks to the really cool graffiti that lined the streets. The graffiti art ranged from funny to beautiful, and thought-provoking to just plain bizarre.

It was pretty inspiring!

Alexander McQueen, you are amazing.

Hey everyone!

Check out this video of the Alexander McQueen spring fashion show, Plato's Atlantis.

It's absolutely amazing.

Check out those shoes! Ouch, but so beautiful!

Watch the whole thing here! It is long, but it is sooo worth it.

Here is another McQueen video, directed by David Simms, presenting his Spring 2010 men's collection:

Chelsea Art Galleries: Part One

Hey there!
On Thursday I spent hours visiting art galleries in Chelsea. It was freezing out but so worth it. My brain was on inspiration overload!

One of my favorites was this exhibition by Brooklyn-based artist Raúl deNieves, called Riddlin Doors. It consisted of a collection of drawings, sculptures and collages that played on the idea of black and white versus color. I loved the concept and visual glee that the artist created. There was graphic black and white broken up by windows to bright, candy-colored fantasy worlds. Amazing! ♥

Here's an excerpt from the press release:

Like the Wizard of Oz, the shift in color palettes, from a graphic two-toned range to a multi-hued display of the fantastical and magical, creates a sense of disconnect and tension.
Replicating this cinematic effect, the artist builds out a narrow hallway in the gallery where a wall divides and acts a medium for the juxtaposition of spaces. A hidden door leads the viewer into the next area: a world in Technicolor.

The technicolored part actually kind of reminded me of Doe Deere's recent effort towards her vision of "Candyfuturism" !

What's been inspiring you lately?
