Music Challenge: Mash Ups

I have been putting together a giant summer playlist, which I am totally addicted to. It is a mix of last year's summer playlist, and a whole bunch of new songs that I can't stop listening to at the moment. The only thing that all of the tracks have in common is that they put me in the summer mindset in some way.  The thing is, I'm going a little bit mash-up crazy.

 I have a challenge for you guys: provide the soundtrack to my insanity by way of: 
Mash-Ups. "a song or composition created by blending two or more songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the music track of another." (thanks wikipedia.)

The best mash-ups I've heard have either Biggie or Daft Punk in them.
My favorite mash-up DJs are: Girl Talk (dancing in the Girl Talk crowd at Bamboozle was the highlight of the entire festival), Super Mash Bros., party Ben, and the awesome DJ Earworm.

Should I give the person who submits my favorite mash-up a prize? Should I have regular music challenges with prizes? Do you want more contests? Should I just shut up? (I'm not going to.)

New Year's Resolutions

Here at Wishful Thinking, we are going to do something a little bit different as we look towards the new year ahead.

The beginning of a new year is probably the only time I make lists and get organized!

The first list is dreams. I daydream all day long about the magical life I want to have, and the magic that I want to spread to others!

The second list is resolutions to fulfill, either in the new year or beginning next year, that will help achieve those dreams.

ACTIONS!

I will learn Italian

I will take steps to learning to properly play the piano

I will continue to develop as an artist

RESOLUTIONS

Instead of Resolutions, I have little phrases that remind me to stay focused on the ideas in my list!
This year, I have three main ideas that I want to stay focused on as I make my adventurous way through the year!

I am so excited!  It is time to look back on the decade (!) with love and no regrets!

It is time to look ahead and get excited for a new start!

Birthday Month of Fun-in Pictures!

December = MY BIRTHDAY MONTH OF FUN

During the month of December, I vowed to do every fun thing that was suggested, and to inject a sense of fun into everything I did!

It was a bit exhausting, but super rewarding. A+ experience, stellar time, would recommend others etc etc!

Therefore, I have a bunch of pictures to show you. And by a bunch, I mean a barrel. By which I mean a ton. Which roughly translates to OMG LOTSA  SO MANY

Are you ready for picture overload?!

I did a lot of work for school. Finals!

I turned 18! DUDE.

I bundled up like crazy - in this pictures I believe I am wearing 8 layers on top and five on the bottom, I could barely move my arms - and waited in line for Saturday Night Live tickets at five in the morning.  We didn't get them, but hopefully we will next time!

 

I went out last Thursday for drinks and yummy food with some friends to celebrate the end of finals and our last day of critiques!

My besties from upstate came to visit and spend a weekend with me in the city. I love them and had an amazing time! Best friend weekend!

Also, it snowed! A LOT!

We went to the Union Square holiday craft show thing. I thought these gloves were hilarious!

My friend and I told the guy selling them that they looked great, and he replied, "they would look better on you!"  Of course I just had to try them on! ;]

 

Someone wrote some dirty words on this tree in flour at a pizza shop.  What a grinch! My friend and I crossed them out. :]

Things I Love This Week

 

being proud of being a nerd, writing, staying up all night to do things that make me happy not just for class, feeling organized, rediscovering old music, highlighter shades of colors, drawing dinosaurs, jellyFISHES, the Museum of Natural History, BESTIE COMING TO THE CITY AT THE END OF NEXT WEEK, the semester is almost over, the Christmas season in the city, getting excited about the pathetic rain-snow we got, languages, text messaging, skyping with my besties while I do homework, Artichoke Pizza, goin' willld sometimes, zines, being close with my brother, online "screen shopping" -which is the interweb equivelant of window shopping, the fact that all my friends here sing as badly as I do! haha, mcdonalds kids meal toys, HARRY POTTER MARATHONS, a room full of random people singing happy birthday to me at midnight, going into an xxx shop with friends just for jokes and because I can, midnight breakfast,               

MY BIRTHDAY IS TODAY

I love you all, and so far I've had a great two hours and fourteen minutes of finally being eighteen years old!

Black Friday

Hello lovelies!

I'm back in the city and I had a great weekend upstate for Thanksgiving.  I got to see some friends, hang out with my family, and relax a bit before returning to school.

On Friday I went to the Woodbury Commons.  It was extremely crowded and busy!  Many of my friends worked longgg shifts on Black Friday, so I went to visit them and check out the sales. Honestly, the sales weren't that great but I had fun anyway.

I didn't end up buying anything, but I took some cute pictures!

We had to park across the street and walk through this weird pathway and over a bridge!

On another note, I painted my nails last week. They were inspired by the Museum of Modern Art, but everyone tells me they look Christmas-y.

Now they're all stained pink from my hair dye!

Fashion's Night Out

Fashion's Night Out is coming up and I will soo be attending. I'm super excited! I'm not exactly sure what event I'll be going to yet, but look out for me!

First Week of DORMIN'

Me and my friends in Brooklyn!

I've been living in the city for a week, getting settled in and making friends. My classes start on Monday and I'm super anxious. Some of my friends have come to visit me from home, but I am really enjoying calling my dorm my new home.

♥ laughing, ♥ singing, ♥ mamabird, ♥ coffee, ♥ jamba juice, ♥ loungin', ♥ diner food, ♥ union square, ♥ dancing, ♥ shopping, ♥ video chatting, ♥ dressing up, ♥ talking, ♥ tim gunn bobbleheads, ♥ thrift stores, ♥ brooklyn, ♥ planning, ♥ open mic nights, ♥ getting kicked out of karaoke bars, ♥ shoes, ♥ buying a rug, ♥ running in the rain in heels, ♥ dreaming, ♥ going out on the town, ♥ pizza, and ♥ a LOT of walking.

And so far I love every minute of it.

I'm embracing the changes in my life! But holding on to my old friends and making sure I don't forget myself.

I'm staying open to new experiences and I love all my new friends.

Operation Stay Fit For Summer!

During the school year I take dance classes all week and I love everything about it. I usually take summer classes as well, but... Last summer I switched studios. So I didn't take dance classes in the summer, and I didn't have any kind of set exercise routine. When I went back to dance in September, I felt so out of shape!

So this summer, I've started what I'm calling

"Operation Stay Fit For Summer" !

The plan is to do some form of exercise every day, preferably outside, and to make it fun. I've started running in the morning, with a friend or by myself.

It's a great way to start the day, being outside and thinking while waking up your body. It

also gives you a feeling that you've accomplished something that day. Also, typical forms of exercise like sit-ups are more enjoyable when you're with a friend in the sun!

Playing music also helps, especially if it's the kind of music that makes you want to dance!

It's Finally Summer!

June 12th was my last day of high school ever, which means that it's officially SUMMER!

I love summer, and nothing makes me happier than spending a

 sunny day with my friends :]

It has been super rainy, gray, and dull here a lot this month...and today we finally had some nice,  sunny weather!

Favorite things about summer:

♥ listening to songs about summer!

♥ wearing shorts and cute sundresses!

♥ swimming!

♥ going to the beach!

♥ driving around aimlessly with a friend...or going on a road trip adventure! :]

♥ no school  -duh!

♥ popsicles!

♥ laziness! 

you can sleep late if you want, and have more freedom to do whatever you want :]

♥ summer exercise! waking up early and movin' around outside, even if it's just you and the sunrise, having a dance party :]

♥ ice cream for every meal ;]

♥ SUNSHINE!

♥ hanging out with friends at night around a fire outside

New Jersey Beach Trip!

It's been sooo dull and rainy around here lately but yesterday I went to the beach with a bunch of my friends! It was a long drive but it turned out to be a lot of fun. :]

Apparently the beach didn't like having its picture taken, because right after I took this one I fell into a sand pit!

"Bam! Snacks on Snacks!"

There were so many of us that we took four different cars full of people, and each car gave itself a team name. We had a sort of scavenger hunt on the way there with objectives such as Funniest Picture and which team could get there the quickest. Our team was Team THF [The Honorary Fucks]. Long story, but it was an inside joke from our drive to Bamboozle May. I think we definitely won!

Friday: My last day of high school ever!

I wore my "Stuntin' Seniors" shirt [the back says "Get Like Me"] and a bunch of EXCITEMENT.

One of our senior pranks was supposed to be a giant water balloon fight in the school parking lot, but it was stopped by the cops ! So instead, my friends and I had a water balloon fight somewhere else. :D  We didn't want to waste the balloons! ;]
