5 Things That I Love About the City This Week

And by "The City" I mean, of course, "New York City".

♥ the abundance of places that sell coffee
♥ today I passed a young man sitting next to a bicycle writing in a Moleskine notebook :]
♥ the man who sells bubble guns on the street and is perpetually demonstrating one for all the sidewalk passers-by
♥ the people who bob their heads and tap the poles to their ipods on the subway
♥ Women's Wear Daily

I'm tired!

Breaking Dawn

Sorry for the lack of updates this week! Being in the city for 90% of the day keeps me busybusybusy. But I did promise to write about Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in Twilight the series by Stephanie Meyer. They are, to put it very simply, about a teenage girl who falls in love with a vampire.

So I went to the Barnes and Noble midnight release of Breaking Dawn last friday. The event itself was pretty fun because I was there with some friends. People were dressed in all different ways: from jeans and t-shirts to fancy dresses to corsets to capes. The store announced that they didn't have enough books for people who didn't preorder one; since I didn't preorder one I thought I wouldn't be getting a book. But as they were about to close I went to the register to pay for my new Moleskine notebooks I saw a small stack of books behind the register. I asked about them, and they let me buy one. :] I got lucky, I was possibly the only person who didn't preorder a book but got one anyway; sometimes all you have to do is ask!

After the event,I went to a diner with my friends and then went home and started to read. I finished the book and I don't want to give anything away for those who haven't read it, so I'm just going to say that a few parts surprised me but by the end I was very happy with the conclusion.

The Twilight movie will be in theaters this winter on December 12 [the day after my birthday!] The casting is pretty good from what I can tell. Kristen Stewart will star as Bella, which I think is right on the money. However Robert Pattinson is playing Edward, which just kind of makes me laugh because I don't think I will be able to get past the fact that he played Cedric Diggory. I feel like I will watch the movie and be thinking, no Bella it's a trick! Edward CAN'T be immortal; he dies in Harry Potter! Oh well, we will see how he does. :p
Have I mentioned that I'm a huge nerd? PS Note the lime green Voté José shirt that I am wearing!
What are your thoughts on Breaking Dawn, the Twilight Series and the upcoming movie? Hide spoilers please!

Moleskines and art supplies!

I was at Barnes and Noble on Friday and I bought two new Moleskine notebooks! They are lovely :]
Also, my orders from Pearl Paint and Sam Flax arrived last week. There was so much bubble wrap in the tiny box that my paint came in! However, those stores didn't have everything I needed, and some of my stuff from Pearl Paint was backordered and cancelled. So this morning I went to Catskill Art Supply in Poughkeepsie. They had everything I needed and more, it was wonderful :] I should have just gone their in the first place; they even had bags, and calendars [I bought one with MC Escher drawings] and sketchpads made from recycled paper. The people who worked there were also very nice and helped me find everything. I am now fully prepared for camp tomorrow! [Supply-wise :p ]
I'm tired so more later.

Twitter!

I am a giant technology nerd, and I am forever finding and adding new ways to stay connected. One of my most [kind of] recent additions is my Twitter account. I'm addicted! I think it's brilliant and have been trying to convince all of my friends to join Twitter. It's kind of an elaborate facebook status, only better, and you can change it and recieve updates from your phone. You can also send direct messages to your friends on it.
Another cool thing about Twitter is that I just added my lovely blog's RSS feed to it, so whenever I update Wishful Thinking it shows up in my Twitter feed! Awesomeee.
You can follow me on Twitter here or on the right side of the page under the about me box.
"Following" on Twitter...sounds kind of stalkerish doesn't it? Haha.
Okay, I'm off to get ready for the Barnes and Noble book release party for Breaking Dawn. Stop in tomorrow for a recap!

Rockland Fest II

Rockland Fest II is coming up on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10 and I want to go so bad! Big D and the Kids Table is playing and I'm really excited because I love them tons. Also playing are Red Light Green Light, who are very good and who I've seen play several times in New Jersey; and Sexy Heroes in Transit, who are absolutely hilarious and put on a really high-energy performance. They have a song about Luigi from the Mario Brothers video games and it's really funny. I'm also excited to see Patent Pending as well as lots of other awesome bands. So I'm really hoping to go, in the meantime I'll be rounding up some friends and more information. :]
